I have 10 years of experience painting murals for all kinds of clients, and have earned recommendations from peers in my industry I once looked up to as a young high school student, with SACE merit for my research in fashion design and street art. Despite studying for an Honours degree in Psychology at Flinders, I was all too happy to kiss that good-bye without finishing, once I started to share my art with the world, and the design commissions came flooding in from places like Spats Coffee Lounge, Godi La Vita, Headspace and the Central Markets.
I've been known to deliver some whopper design projects that go on to become important parts of a brand's visual identity. Aside from murals, I've churned out stuff for Adelaide University O'week (2019), and a bunch of South Aussie councils. I've also been engaged by DTI to beautify a number of train stations you may have seen around the place!
At the heart of my art practice is a love for illustration that goes way back to storybooks I obsessed over a kid. Graeme Base, Andy Griffiths, Roald Dahl, Lemony Snicket, Mambo, Stephen Bliss, and series like The Simpsons, Where's Wally, Crash Bandicoot all played a hugely formative role in my vibrant, whimsical and colour-drenched style I splash about the streets today. Usually it's good old fashioned fabulous fun but my art can often dip into the satirical with a slightly more serious and spikier edge.
When I'm not painting up the side of a building, you'll find me out in the water. I'm a passionate advocate for marine conservation and delight in letting others know what's in the waters surrounding them. I have attained my Community Surf Rescue certificate and enjoy swimming the Jetty with the Marilyns of Brighton Beach to raise funds for cancer research. I am also a participant of Laps for Life, swimming kms in the sea to raise funds for youth prevention services such as Lifeline.
I love to get people excited about creating and usually have some opportunities for other artists to get board with if they ask.
Every few years I curate a major exhibition based around a theme;
It's Getting Hot in Here (climate change) 2017
One Minute to Midnight (nuclear war) 2020
The Illusion of Fame (celebrity culture) 2021
Dream Scented Rushes (Alice in Wonderland) 2021
Deep Thinkers (marine conservation) 2023
I love to use my down time to create funky, imaginative teaching resources that encourage creativity in all ages, for free download and use by the public. I've released colouring pages, snakes and ladders, chatterboxes and PC learning games.
These days I stay and create on Jetty Road in Brighton, where I run regular free tours of my own murals at nine stops along the beautiful beach shopping street. Come on down and make a day of it. Here on JRB you can sit beside my art while enjoying smoothies, coffees, fruit salad, pancakes, waffles, stir fries, Banh Mi, donuts, and sausage rolls- so there's something for everyone at every time of the day. I LOVE special tour requests so get in touch if you've got a group that may fancy a stroll... donations welcome!
